Georgia Burge
Sea State
My collection is about the protection associated with sailing and seafaring. Referring to key elements such as buoyancy, protection from extreme weathers and functionality. The collection is designed for S/S 22 predominately marketed towards women.
Buoyancy and the different sub-sections this relates to, including the stability of a boat, inflatable buoyancy devices and sails are key elements. Print is a dominant feature drawing from Geometric and symmetric shapes found within the sails.
The silhouette screams loud, bold and voluminous garments with a streamlined texture considering the functionality behind the theory of efficiency of streamline forces between the wind and sea therefore visually the textures will be smooth, glossy and fresh.
Within the collection the colours are bold and bright often with dominant warning colours.
Chosen fabrics all provide a function, either be it waterproof, wind proof, breathable or warmth, protecting you from all climates in the natural environment with a light airy feel to the collection. This collection draws from these influential fabrics to create a fashion garment/statement rather than a technical functioning for purpose garment. A key factor within this collection is sustainability therefor an ambition is to reuse and recycle fabrics such as sails and reconstruct this into a functional garment.
