THE SKATEOVER

The year is 2060 during a time of Prohibition. The British government are ruling over Scotland and have banned the production and sale of Tartan fabrics; shutting down stores and warehouses. A skating horde, descendants of WW1 Bagpipers are fighting back, reinventing their clan tartans in order to reclaim their heritage. Insistent that their ancestry will not be concealed. Skating is their way of life and they are combining their passions creating a juxtaposition of cultures. They will find their way around the law. Turning tradition into new innovation and like the Bagpipers before them they will lead the next generation into the fight.

This AW21 Womenswear collection, largely inspired by menswear within the themes of modern skate culture and Scottish military uniforms during WW1 will look in detail at key garments such as the Ghillie suit, oversized t-shirt, kilt, military coats and the Pipers plaid. Combining two different elements will allow for an original collection with juxtaposing themes. Silhouettes will be oversized and comfortable and colour will be inspired by Graffiti from modern skateparks which will juxtapose the typical ideals of a winter colour palette.
