No Blank Canvas
“No Blank Canvas” A Collaboration Of Two Vastly different cultures that can live within one person. This Spring 2020 collection is for woman who is not afraid to stand out, show their colours and represent diversity. A perfect fusion – inspired by the silhouettes of 16th century dress merged and contrasted by the bright rich colours and drape of the Omo Valley tribes of southern Ethiopia (Images from Silverster, 2009) Tribal body paint has been translated into bold, natural prints representing the rich fruits of both cultures.
This has been done through collage development and drape work to inspire pieces that represent the prior aims. Silhouette is key for this collection, 16th century women’s wear as the inspiration; large cocoon sleeves, synched waist into a dramatic bell shaped skirt. Luxury fabrication throughout the collection is key, with rich silks and suede, but yet still mixed with highly wearable pieces such as denims and cottons. With pieces ranging from £400 to £1200. High quality pieces can be worn as stand out Separates mixed and matched or as full looks within the collection. A celebration of merging cultures just like paint on a canvas – thus a true celebration of diversity in women.
