As we currently face a planet emergency, this collection embodies fashion for the future by preparing for the inevitable global climate crisis. Full circle is an Autumn/Winter 2021 collection that stems from my Grandad’s career in the high risk industry of coal mining, drawing inspiration from the continuous organic cycle between the extraction and exploitation of the earth’s resources.
Vintage protective-wear strongly informs the silhouette, using foul weather smocks and mine rescue team’s apparatus as inspiration for dramatic oversized shapes. The collection aims to reduce the creation of ‘scrap’ material by investigating minimal waste pattern cutting methods and utilising unwanted or deadstock fabrics from industry - thinking responsibly throughout the design process to create a sustainably concious and coherant collection.
Expect to see oversized minimal waste outerwear pieces, bold hand-painted textural prints and the use of layering as an important styling feature to symbolise being appropriately dressed for the uncertain elements. Adjustable features and fastenings appear throughout this ready-to-wear menswear collection, allowing the youthful male muse to alter the garments to suit their personal style.
