METROPOLIS
Delving into our insatiably fast paced and frantic society, Metropolis is a Spring/Summer 21 collection putting work culture and our twenty-four seven, constantly connected lives under the microscope. It questions the sustainability of this lifestyle and how anxiety, burnout and exhaustion are scarily too common occurrences in our daily lives.
The project contrasts these issues of today against the vivid colourful 1980s as our current generation, exhausted with the pace of modern-day life, look to a seemingly simpler, nostalgic decade. A decade of exuberant, dramatic silhouettes, club kids and iconic, enduring trends.
The trench coat throughout, is used as a metaphor to embody the modern-day commuter and can be seen, deconstructed and reimagined in interesting and innovative ways.
