NAZAR
A collection that is influenced by child marriages in South Asia. Taking the traditional Pakistani clothes and giving it a more modern and childlike features which would translate to the main focal point of this collection, child marriages. This collection is very close to the heart as the silhouettes of the garments are inspired by images of my childhood dressed up in traditional Pakistani clothes, garments too big on a small body, low neckline, floor sweeping skirts, rolled up sleeves. I’ve also extracted inspiration from the tribe Pashto with their exaggerated sleeves and volumes trousers. The idea of this collection is creating something beautiful but unsightly to look at. Colours in my collection are inspired by the trucks of Pakistan but are toned down to give a more innocent feel to the collection but also a modern collection.
The key importance of this collection is that a bridal garment is a celebrated piece of fabric but alongside that there are young girls being forced to wear such a garment without knowing the destruction it carries.
